Quooker in the kitchen

There are many uses for the Quooker tap but for new mum's and dad's - how about warming baby's milk? Ingenious!

Quooker, the one and only 100°C boiling water tap, available at Baker & Baker.  Visit the showroom for a demonstration.

A beautiful kitchen for a beautiful room

One of our favourites, this Classic English kitchen was designed and made for a new build in Cambridgeshire

So much light and space makes the room incredibly welcoming and comfortable

Pippy oak, what's knot to like?

We had the pleasure of working on this project with a client renovating and extending a period property.  Alterations included the replacement of a very old, very cluttered existing kitchen......

They were fairly clear on what they wanted the new kitchen to be - practical, spacious, simple but not plain.  They chose our Classic English design with painted and wood cabinets.

With the low ceilings and limited natural light it was important not to over-crowd the room with wall cabinets

The central island is painted in Fired Earth Turkish Blue with oak handles .  Note the desk area to the right of the island with handy drawer storage!

Hand made, hand painted tiles have since been fitted in the alcove above the Everhot range oven

A love of real wood, the grain was to stand out. We suggested Pippy Oak recognisable by it's prominent knotty pattern.

Coffee break?

Graham took a break this weekend from kitchen designing to walk Snowdonia with friends.  Unfortunately the weather was grim but equipped with his trusty Handpresso, he was happy enough knowing he had plenty of good strong coffee to hand!

At the top.....

.....and at this point, wishing he was back in the office!

The range has an excellent selection of blade sizes and cutting options and has various boxed sets including a carvery set which make ideal gifts.

There is also some ingenious ideas for safe storage to suit any knife range.

Graham's Lemon Shorties

We had our very first bake off in the showroom this morning using the new Aga and chose these simple shortbread biscuits with a twist.

If you fancy having a go, here's the recipe...

Ingredients
100g plain flour
50g corn flour
50g granulated sugar
100g butter
Pinch of salt
Grated zest of 1 lemon

Mix the ingredients together by hand or with a food processor.
Roll the dough into a cylindrical shape and cover with cling film.
Place in the fridge for about 30 mins to chill and firm.
Remove from the fridge and slice into 1cm thick biscuits as shown.

Preheat oven to 160 degrees
Lay the biscuits onto a greased baking tray and place in the oven for 15-20 mins

Remove from the oven and allow to cool (if you can wait!)

Yum!
Tip..
Make up double the quanitity and freeze half for baking another day.

Warm walnut and crisp maple, a winning combo!

One of our small projects for a property in Lavenham.  A quaint, little cottage with lots of original features and very traditional decor, so it was interesting that the clients chose this fairly modern mix of maple and walnut wood.
